Isn't the artist a bystander or a by-product in the same way that OEMs and CIOs
are the real clients of software giants? I agree with you on one thing. The
businessmen haven't a clue about music that they sell. They look at names and
numbers. They urge artists to rename themselves for show-biz purposes too. In
the same way, some media companies keep their staff incognito.

I don't like the term music industry or music business. What happened to
creativity, art, culture and folklore? I wonder what Gilberto Gil would have
to say about this. He's a big free software fan and advocate. He's also the
minister of culture in Brasil now. I believe he recognised the same issues.
This turned today's music into a heartless industry of re-rendition, pop
beats, and lousy ripoffs of /real/ music from the 80s and 70s.
