This is a good analogy not just because of the subtle implication that
Microsoft is Yugo, but also because it illustrates and stresses the importance
of standards. It also shows why Linux adoption is dependent on the adoption of
standards. Countries such as the Netherlands usher the migration to Free
software by making policies regarding standards first. They will do remarkably
well in years to come and standards have ripple effect. That's the reason
Microsoft took its whack-a-mole game to Holland and anywhere else which adopts
ODF. There's a lot of corruption involved and I try to post updates on this
so that Microsoft's crimes (against standards, fair voting, truth) gets better
documented. There's no place for briberies in industry, but that's just how
Microsoft operates. Others do this too, but Microsoft does this far too often.
