It got a little worse later. Mary Jo Foley said something along the lines of
(even in the post title): "Microsoft doesn't pull the updates again... yet."
People complain in her blog, as well as in other places.
Bear in mind that Microsoft's new engineers are already like a year late and
this isn't the first batch of glitches. They just don't have the skilled
Windows engineers anymore. They left. Even the top manager left a couple of
months back.
As Joel Spolky, a former manager of Excel, said last year, Microsoft lowered
its barrier to entry at the recruitment level. They probably just take people
from the street to change some lines of code, close their eyes and pray for
the best when the changes are deployed. It shows. It shows because it's the
same mess with Vista (updates 'kill' PCs every month). People like Joe Wilcox
of Microsoft Watch say they are afraid of system updates.
