Another example of the content mafia totally losing perspective. Instead
of just emailing the webmasters and requesting any links to
pirated/illegal material to be removed from their site, they have to
assert their "control" over the "content". Sledgehammer to crack a
walnut yet again. The fact that Bryan Adams *chose* to put himself in
the public domain would mean that certain uses of his name and image are
quite legitimate. This draconianism makes me wanna puke.
I quite agree. It makes no sense to spend a lifetime chasing publicity
of any and all kinds, then complain when it's not under your direct
control.
Illegitimate copies of material shouldn't be there, of course, but it
should stop at that point.
I also note that fan recordings of concerts made on mobiles and such
like seem most unlikely to unseat real sales...
