     Well "PC building" has always been that. It's just that
as the outer layer of WinDOS software has gotten fancier, the
proportion of system builders has gone down. Sure, you can
still do it but it's a vanishing part of the market.

     It's generally relegated to the "enthusiast" and even
then likely only for a particular purpose that ready made
systems don't quite always do well with yet ( HTPC client,
HTPC server, or homebrew NAS ).
