Micro$oft has view game consoles as a threat to the home Windows

the XBox came to be.
I recall years ago, when the first XBox was struggling, that some
people said that they would stop the bleeding and quit the console
market. I told them, that from Micro$oft's perspective, it was
*imperative* to be in that market, and there's *no chance* that they
would leave it.

I must agree that you were right about this, and I have thought the same
thing myself.
People are being shortsighted to think only of how much money the
console makes. All consoles are sold at a loss. Money is made from
selling games, not the consoles themselves.
