Micro$oft has view game consoles as a threat to the home Windows
market for a long time, and correctly so. That's the main reason why
the XBox came to be.
I recall years ago, when the first XBox was struggling, that some
people said that they would stop the bleeding and quit the console
market. I told them, that from Micro$oft's perspective, it was
*imperative* to be in that market, and there's *no chance* that they
would leave it.
I was right, as usual. 8)
