Basically, non-felons over 18 are entitled to vot. Whether they do or not 
is their own personal choice.

He gave it during the campaign and it was still meaningless - just that a 
lot of folks did not recognize that.

Exactly the point I was hoping to make. As long as most folks vote for 
the candidates who "bring home the bacon" instead of the ones who would 
do the best for the entire country, we've got that problem.

About 15 years ago while my wife was being treated for cancer (she's a 
double survivor), the doc made an interesting observation. Quite a number 
of years before most medical researchers were sure that a 'cancer 
cure' (rather a misnomer since there are so many different kinds) was 
just a few years away. At that time it was still 'just a few years away', 
as it is today. At that time he expressed the opinion that if all the 
reasearch funds had not been siphoned off to find a cure for aids (which, 
by the way is almost entirely preventable) it would be in place.
