Verily I say unto thee, that Roy Schestowitz spake thusly:
> Sugar Wins! Nobody Buying Windows XO Laptops

It's a hollow victory.

Microsoft never seriously expected XP to be popular on the XO - but by
bullying Negropronte into submission, they destroyed the reputation of
what was supposed to be a purely altruistic effort based on altruistic
principles and altruistic software. Microsoft's goal was to change the
perception that the OLPC was a charity, selfless and noble, to that of
just another company selling products. Having destroyed that image, it
was then a simple matter to sabotage the charity itself, by conspiring
with Intel to squeeze the XO out of the "market" (a.k.a. third-world).
This predatory thuggishness is bad *enough* when it's just a battle of
supremacy between two equally matched corporate gangsters, but when it
targets helpless charities, it really is one of the most sleazy things
I've ever witnessed. Both Microsoft and Intel should face racketeering
charges over their attacks on this charity, and those responsible need
to be sent to jail.
