New Linux Moblin netbooks to be announced at IDF

,----[ Quote ]
| A new Linux netbook based on Moblin will be introduced
| this week, and it may represent a new way that the Linux
| community is approaching the mass market.

Moblin gains online video editing

,----[ Quote ]
| Swedish startup JayCut today announced the availability of video
| editing software for the Moblin technology platform. The Adobe AIR-
| based "JayCut Mobile" app aims to let netbook and even handheld
| device users edit video on the go.

MS steps on a Snapdragon

,----[ Quote ]
| That brings us back to the Asus and what was billed as the best
| netbook/smartbook of the show. You have a company that kicked off the netbook
| craze two years ago with the Eee, an OS that is not only MS free, but Linux
| based as well, and a chipmaker that actually delivers product. The buzz was
| growing at Computex, and that would create a PR disaster for MS.
| So it went away. No really, it went POOF in the middle of the show. No
| explanation, no excuses, just that it was there one day, and gone the next.
| PR disaster averted for Redmond, phew.

- From Russia with Linux

,----[ Quote ]
| Be sure Microsoft will put up a fight, because it will:
| 1. Make clear to the customer what he pays for and how much he pays for
|       it;
| 2. Make it virtually impossible to impose its terms to hardware
|        manufacturers;
|    3. Give customers a real alternative, backed by a major company;
| 4. Expose the vulnerability of its business model in the 21st century to
|       the shareholders in a way that cannot be misunderstood;
| 5. Create a dangerous precedent - if here, why not in the US?

Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (GNU/Linux)
