He had to _move on_... to bigger things. Many folks at
Microsoft have been moving to greener lawn recently, Google
being a prime example. A quick look at blogs like
mini-Microsoft makes this more apparent as it contains the
opinions of full-time Microsoft engineers who fret and
complain. That's why it has become so convroversial.
