This is a religious issue for many people.

You say your Clie is "slowly dying". In what way? If it's just the battery
you might want to take a look at <http://www.cliebattery.com/>. 615c is
about halfway down the list.

I wouldn't hold my breath for Palm OS II. It's not the first attempt at a
Linux-based PDA and it will be interesting if it turns out to be enough
better than the previous attempts that it can develop a market. I suspect
it's going to be a case of too little and too late.

Right now, if you want a Linux-based PDA you might want to take a look at an
Archos PMA-400. There were several Linux-based Sharp Zuurus models on the
market for a while but Sharp seems to have abandoned that product line
outside of Japan--they use the same PDA application as the Archos so I
would expect functionality to be similar. It's my understanding that as a
PDA it doesn't work very well but that it's got the best sound quality of
any pocketable audio device on the market, however I would not be surprised
to be mistaken on both counts. In honesty I've been lusting after one for
a while, but it doesn't do enough that my NX-70 doesn't do to push me
off-center to get it.
