That's a 1% average over all airlines. I could only find info on
American based airlines, but some are 2.5%! That's insane. 2 people on
each of those flights are going to lose their luggage basically. The
odds an entire family lost their luggage? Not that great, but it's not
entirely unsurprising. Fact is you don't know what happened, I don't
know what happened, and trying to ascertain what happened based on
someone's posts to a newsgroup is asinine.

Yeah suing over it is asinine as well, but airlines are still getting
away with murder. I thought I saw somewhere that the barcode readers
they use have a 10% failure rate as well. You'd think they could get
luggage from point a to the plane without losing 1% of it. The point
is, don't check your luggage.
