Think about the timing of Dell's out-of-the-blue statement that it will offer
Linux preinstalled on desktop and laptops. Without any customer polls, H-P
followed suit and it is currently evaluating its options, according to
Bernard Golden. The OEMs seek alternative routes---an exit strategy.
