It's a strange market nowadays. I no longer read the paper (I
don't want to have to deal with recycling it afterwards; I'm not
all that consistent about taking out the garbage :-) ), but do
keep up by using the websites.
The websites, however, do not automatically generate
subscription revenue, at least, AFAIK. (CNN was
experimenting with some premium video/streaming services
at one point; dunno what happened with that.)

I'm not sure how reporters/companies estimate the costs of
security breaches, but stories occasionally report costs
of delousing machines. Therefore it is theoretically
possible to express security as a cost; how accurately,
I for one do not know.
One can presumably establish a lower limit on security
breach costs by dividing down time into machine lifetime,
and adding in tech time (about $50-$100/hour, presumably)
for the repair. If it's a server one might include
uncaptured revenue as well.
