Daily newspapers are in serious financial trouble these days.
At least in the USA.

Ian is correct. The biggest reason after cost for Windows to move toward Linux 
is security. Microsoft has bungled every attempt it has made to secure Windows
and there is nothing to indicate that this will change in the future.
Microsoft isn't interested in *freedom* they wish to control things by
controlling the *standards* that only they can dictate and develop.
