Is there some Linux-only app that is thriving better on Linux than an

Amarok.
Sonbird isn't quite there yet and Amarok focuses not on ports.

Going straight to the Amarok and Songbird websites rather than to Wikipedia:

http://amarok.kde.org/
Amarok is a powerful music player for Linux and Unix, MacOS X and Windows
with an intuitive interface. It makes playing the music you love and
discovering new music easier than ever before - and it looks good doing it!

Went to download it for OS X:

Please be aware that no stable version of Amarok for Mac OS
has yet been released. This means those builds are FOR
TESTING PURPOSES ONLY. There is no official support for them.
These builds might be unstable, have bad side effects, kill
your cat, start WW IV or even worse, may not work at all. You
    have been warned!

I like my cat too much to try it. :)

Is there a good Mac-only FOSS equivalent?

Without peeking, I would bet a dollar that there isn't.
