This is a ridiculous and clearly untrue assertion. My objections to
Linus's poisonous and destructive behavior, which I object to having
trivialized as "hand wringing," are based on actually reading the words
that he wrote and said, in context, and evaluating them against the
principles that make up a healthy and respectful community. For the
record, I was present in the audience at Linus's Q&A, and I found Linus's
responses profoundly disappointing and unhealthy for our community, if
entirely expected and consistent with his previous behavior.
I agree with Steve's message about what Debian should do about this
specific event. But I will not leave your statements above unchallenged
in either this or any other Debian forum, and I will continue to push for
Debian to take a principled stance against abusive behavior towards free
software community members where we have something appropriate and
effective that we can do, even by respected people like Linus, and even in
forums other than Debian's own. I just don't think there's anything
further that Debian could do in this specific case that's appropriate and
effective.
