IFTY miles along the river/canal assure some exercise. Well, yesterday was a nice day with good weather for the journey. Today I got my bike fixed (a screw had been loosening), so there is likely to be another 8-hour bike ride next Monday (Bank Holiday). It’s very different from riding on the roadside. It is also a lot safer.

Nice bike equipped with white-wall tires, chrome fenders a pants guard and a carrier at the rear.. It’s what we Floridians call a “beach rider.” It looks comfortable and stable; not like the racing bikes used in the French Grand Prix. Some may think of it as a bike for old timers, and it is a little retro but that’s what makes it so nice. My first bike (in 1939) was a Schwinn, which I used to deliver community newspapers. It was yellow and blue, and had all the features of your bike, except the brakes in those days were called coaster brakes, (hand brakes were not invented yet) all you needed to do to stop was reverse direction of your pedals and it immediately locked the wheels and made the tires lock up and squeal like a cat with its tail under a rocking chair. I loved my bike.
How come we never forget our first 2 wheeler?
