Making a Career From Being Racist, and How BBC Helps Promote Racism

Shame on Katherine Ryan and shame on the BBC for giving her a platform

Katherine Ryan

IT IS astonishing that even in the year 2013 we have people going on TV to express racism under the guise of “it’s just a joke”. It’s offensive and it is despicable. Katherine Ryan, a Canadian comedienne who sadly enough lives in the same country as me, has decided to go all racist in the crappy quasi-corporate channel of the BBC (state propaganda funded by taxpayers but serving plutocrats from all across the globe).

Why does the BBC help Katherine Ryan build her career based on highly offensive racist jokes in Mock the Week? The BBC merely helps characterise and stereotype Brits as arrogant racists who look down on the world, as if that perception is not already hurting the national image.

The BBC should really issue apologies and distance itself from this dirty mouth known as Katherine Ryan. Racism is the lowest form of humour and an easy way to grab laughter at the expense of the pride of other human beings. Saying “it’s just a joke” or “I’m a woman and not a racist” is not a valid excuse. People are offended by jokes that are neither funny nor constructive. Humour is not the best cure when people’s feelings are hurt, and not due to their belief in superstitions (a choice) but because of their genetics (which is not a choice).

Racism is not humour. This is 2013 we’re in. BBC, heal thyself.

    what did she say?

  2. Roy Schestowitz Says:

    See http://pinoyambisyoso.com/news/canadian-comedienne-katherine-ryan-jokes-about-filipino-children-on-bbc-show-video/

This pattern of jokes reminds me of Nazi rhetoric.

  3. GP Says:

I’d say you were over-sensitive but you have missed the point completely. She was making a joke about the duality of western companies to on the one hand say “we aren’t going to test on animals” but on the other hand have their products made in sweat shops in the far east.

  4. steve Says:

Agree with GP. This kind of humour is actually raising awareness of a big problem and the butt of the joke is most certainly not the children. Also I would like to add that your implied judgment of the Brits based on what a Canadian said on a British TV network is a very warped viewpoint. With one argument you are suggesting you want a politically correct world, whilst simultaneously offering to ‘stereotype’ a whole nation based on a joke which clearly offended you so immediately that you had no time to engage you brain and uncover the true message of the jest.

  5. BillyH Says:

Blimy Roy, how old are you ? Remembering Adolfs speeches.

  6. Dr Shah Says:

What an utterly preposterous, ridiculous, libellous article. It amazes me that you have the brainpower to upload a blog post.

  7. Drweavil Says:

Wahhh my oh so precious feelings have been hurt… So f**king what!

There really is nothing like someone who is always prepared to take offense on someone else’s behalf. You premise is nonsense, your writing is nonsense and your conclusion is nonsense.

Your deliberate misrepresentation of the BBC is just downright funny as anyone with even a modicum of intellect will know your accusation to be laughable bull.

If you’re going to go the full retard, try picking on someone who is demonstrably insane, there’s a whole bucket load of them in the GOP that fit the bill, yet you decided to make up a truck of precious feelings shite instead. Wahhhhhh….

  8. Ness Says:

    Schestowitz=Cunt

Just to juxtapose the intelligent criticisms of your fucktardedness.

  9. Roy Schestowitz Says:

Are you the marketing staff of Miss Ryan’s PR agency? Or are you so loyal to a random lady, to the point of cursing a messenger who points out bad, tactless humour?

  10. Zak Says:

    Roy,
I think the simple fact is that you’re just not bright enough to get the irony. Please don’t take offence (!).

  11. Fraser Says:

Roy, you’ve completely missed the point of what she said. Perhaps there’s a bit of a language barrier that prevented you to understanding what she was trying to point out. Next time you fly off the rails, try and make sure have a full grasp of the persons intentions before ranting online and making yourself appear a tad silly.

  12. Robert Says:

Calling someone racist is quite serious, but hey you’re a blogger so you didn’t ponder enough. I do not have English as first language but I got the joke and its point is not directed downwards towards the (imagined) children but rather towards you and me and international companies using cheap labour and having double standards, as you did not get it you ought to take “wit” out of your name as you seem to be lacking that. If you have an serious complaint about programs on BBC I believe there is a complaint board and that they have strict rules to follow: ethics, libel etc.

  13. Up ur's Says:

So quick to try be the dude crusading for equal rights

  14. Reuben Says:

You really went to the time and effort to publish this slanderous drivel.
Any person can take offence at any statement or comment of any other person.
Its people like you that are causing us to run blinded into a controlled state where we have no freedom of speech or thought. Where no one can criticise or comment ironically or not on another person or country without fear of legal action.
I suggest if you don’t like something you simply don’t watch it. There are may comments made on mock the week that could be considered racist or sexist or simply slanderous.
I suggest you watch this. Schestowitz, and if you want to get your interfering hands onto something.. why not tackle something worth while.

  15. Town crier Says:

Us English ARE racist and so what. Fair play to anyone who picks up on it and wants to lighten the situation. Last I checked everyone has an opinion and everyone has the right to free speech and it’s the constant fear of being politically correct that’s ruined this country. Immigration is a problem here as any old Tom, Sanjeev and Mohammad is allowed to come in. And instead of taking to good old fashioned vigilante ethnic cleansing we make satirical fun of it as only we know how before abandoning ship and moving to Spain. God bless this nation

  16. Steve Says:

    Fuck off Roy you cunt!

  17. another Says:

Get a fucking life you joyless fop.

  18. Holden Says:

Yay! I just found the loneliest place on the web!

  19. erique Says:

Truth is not stereotype, Brits are, and always have been, racist…

  20. Non-PC Says:

Thank fuck there are still people out there who are willing to call someone on their politically correct bullshit! Every dick who can make a blog suddenly seems to think themself elevated above the rest like some sage guiding light. Just because you take offense does not mean you’re right, or that you’ve even understood what it is which so horrifies you.
Get off your soap box and out into the real world and engage some real people and you might find your perspective changes and becomes, I don’t know…relevant and balanced?
Or perhaps maybe you’re best staying on here trolling people such as myself by labelling a currently popular celebrity’s photo with a giant provocative and libellous slur in the hope of garnering some page views.
Something that I dare say you did with not so much as half of the thought that Katherine put into the original material herself.

  21. y'mum Says:

that was so racist how SHE SAID THAT COSMETICS COMPANIES WOULDN’T TEST THEIR PRODUCTS ON FILIPINO CHILDREN.

  22. Roy Schestowitz Says:

As if they were animals. Shades of white supremacy and I shall briefly explain why, as Katherine Ryan might not understand.

For some historical context see how the US (I know she’s Canadian, not US citizen) invaded tortured, raped and mass-murdered a quarter million Filipinos (civilians too, intentionally), calling them (collectively) “niggers” while they defended their country from the invading force. This is a purged part of history (in the US-occupied Philippines they don’t teach about it at schools), but it’s photographically documented with written accounts.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6y1v1Z3Zeps

To use a punchline that compares Filipinos to animals is not wise. Try to say the same joke with the word “Jews” instead of Filipinos and see how it works out…

  23. tomcat31 Says:

HOW DARE YOU. Accusing all British people of being racist. This is slander against an entire nation, and therefore racism in its own right. I myself consider myself British. However, my grandfather was Canadian, my mother polish, and my father welsh. After your disgusting statement about my country, I challenge you to post a picture of yourself, so we can all stamp the word RACIST across it and publish it online. Im also tempted to forward links to your post to the bbc legal department in order to have you sued for libel.

  24. rsf Says:

The Philippines are made up of the following:
    Ethnic groups (2010[3])
    33.8% Visayan
    27.7% Tagalog
    9.8% Ilocano
    6.8% Bicolano
    5.1% Moro
    3.1% Kapampangan
    1.7% Igorot
    1.4% Pangasinense
    1.2% Chinese
    1.1% ZamboangueƱo
    8.1% other local
    0.2% foreign

So Filipino children come from many ethnic backgrounds, so what she said is not racist. And also, if you say it is racist because they are indistinguishable then guess what… YOU ARE A RACIST ROY

  25. DarkStar Says:

Well, you can tell when something is BS, when you cant post proof, and the only place you can report on this tripe is a personal blog, rather than an actual publication.
