The Premier League’s New Rules (by IFAB) Would Devastate Brett Wilson LLP

New rules against time-wasting, a tactic of Brett Wilson LLP (they doubled the duration of the recent hearing where we had an experienced legal team that included two barristers)

The Premier League have today confirmed the new laws introduced by IFAB that will be part of the 2026/27 season.

I can recall the hearing we had last month very well. How can I forget? Unlike the applicant, we attended it. He did not! He was in London at the time, but he chose to not even show up.

My barrister told me that his barrister was intentionally “time-wasting”. It was not hard to see this, he was very repetitive and clearly he tried to deny our side (two barristers) enough time to get across points. It was an exceptionally hot week, so those in the Court were already tired by the time our barristers had a say.

If “time-wasting” is a legal tactic (like stalling), then the Court needs to curtail it, even penalise for it.

Our barristers aren’t cheap and my barrister is vastly more experienced that the time waster’s.

Tomorrow I’ll write about these tactics in Techrights. The headline will be: “Decades of Debt, Weaponing Borrowed Money to Try to Put Critics in Debt”.

SO almost 3 years ago Google hijacked the term “Gemini” (in relation to Web/Net stuff), which makes it hard to find information online about Gemini Protocol, pretending Google’s slop brand by 4 years!

Despite the attack on the “brand”, i.e. on Gemini Protocol, Geminispace continued to grow.

What next can GAFAM do to derail alternatives?

Paul Robeson Used His Fame (and Voice) for Good, Not for Money

Society must look up to people like him, not greedy people who hoard money and power, not “pay it forward” to those in dire need (of a voice, not necessarily money)

I Still Suits Me (Remastered)

I‘ve long respected Paul Robeson (for decades already) not just for his excellent, strong voice and learning of new languages, which he then used to communicate internationally (this reminded me of RMS). In the face of controversy and risk (the US tried to ostracise and sanction him) he persisted in his activism, using his good name and reputation to do something risky without monetary gain/rewards.

A recently-deceased French model did the same for animals. She died as controversial because she opposed the same “Establishment” that had helped her rise to fame.

Anniversary a Month From Now

IT was “15 years ago when I first met Rianne,” I said earlier this year. “It was at a birthday party of a friend of hers and a friend of mine. We started chatting randomly and soon figured out we had a lot in common, including our Computer Science background.”

A month from now we have our wedding anniversary (Sept. 18th) and exactly a week from now Rianne celebrates her birthday. Today I asked her what balloon colours she wanted. She said purple. So I got that!

It’s nice that Rianne’s birthdays always happen during holidays/vacations, but jealous snakes fancy trying to spoil these in recent years. Let’s see if they will try the same again this year.

Misogynists generally can’t help it. Nothing infuriates them more than seeing people who are 1) happy and 2) in love.

IT seems like we’re getting only drizzles lately, no heavy rains. It’s worrying because the birds are literally banging their body’s against my doors for attention, they desperately want food. Today we fed several flocks in our way to and back from Town. They were “happy clappy” about it (we clap to get their attention).

Seeing the yellow ‘grass’ (if that can even be called “grass” at this point; it seems dead everywhere, many bushes and plants too, maybe not trees) is profoundly saddening. If it becomes this bad every year, and if all we have to show for it is chatbots (pyramid scheme basically) and useless data centres, then our species is doomed already.

Update on the Tor Situation

I became aware that this domain was no longer accessible over Tor.

I do not use Tor myself, but this site targets technical people, some of whom are Tor users.

I did my best to first affirm that there was a block on Tor; there was then a discussion on feasibility of undoing this.

Tor in schestowitz.com and www.schestowitz.com remains blocked not because of my personal choice; it’s a decision further up the chain.

This Past Weekend Cloudflare Measured GNU/Linux at 10% (at Peak)

I spent a lot of time this morning looking through Cloudflare Radar to better understand OS trends worldwide.

Weekends are when most people do not work. This past weekend GNU/Linux was measured at over 8% but peaked at about 10%.

Cloudflare has vast data and given the scale of it all, it’s hard to dismiss as mere noise.
