Things that media is not covering or no longer covering

ONE is the summer, I guess.

September is here and I’ve published 10 Techrights pages in 3 hours, with plenty more to come.

I recognise that many news sites died. Many that used to cover Microsoft layoffs, for instance, no longer do. That leave a a gap for all of us bloggers to fill.

More disposable bits

offee sachets seem to have gained some traction in recent years. In the 90s you seldom saw those at shops, only at hotel rooms and maybe sometimes in some restaurants (rarely).

I recently got lots of them for a very good price and compared to instant coffee or blends or beans (I’d never bother with capsules; it’s a ripoff) they taste very nice and are very quick to prepare. They do, however, generate more waste.

I think those sachets are more about selling us a lot less for a vastly higher price.

It’s sort of like capsules, except the need for a proprietary machine.

What if the product is misinformation?

atekeeping is the art of hiding particular news, at least in the context of reporting.

These days a lot of the media that we assume exists to inform us is trying to do the exact opposite. It has clients, not audiences, and those clients are typically very rich clients and companies.

We need to ensure more people understand that.

Welcome to September

late hard-earned goal put Arsenal ahead, but Manchester City is still on top of the league. So welcome to September, at long last we’re “after summer” based on one particular calendar, which means I’m taking it up a notch with my “friend” coffee and with strong ambition to go ahead with several ongoing series.

rateful for the long vacation (staycation this year), it has only a few hours left to it, then we wait until Xmas Eve. There will also be some football later tonight, tomorrow it’s back to normal, formally.

So we’ve managed to visit a lot of places, do a lot of exercise, prepare a lot of food, and tidy up everything, not just digital stuff.

2027 is looking like another year of conflict of Ukraine and maybe beyond it [1-3]. I keep watching the news about that war (every day since it began!) because I fear sooner or later it’ll expand to NATO territories.

Putin would rather destroy his country’s people and diminish the economy than admit that he was wrong and foolish.

ots and scrapers are ruining the Internet, not just the Web. Today I read that Geminispace too is targeted by them (the LLM plagiarism engines). Earlier today they engaged in de facto DDoS against us, though it’s hard to know what those rogue bots are actually for and who runs them. Maybe their purpose is purely malicious.

Either way, Web traffic will become meaningless without some further context.

In today’s Web, like with E-mail, it is about merely surviving online (because of the many predators online).

Who will be left to clean up the mess?
