O almost 3 years ago Google hijacked the term “Gemini” (in relation to Web/Net stuff), which makes it hard to find information online about Gemini Protocol, pretending Google’s slop brand by 4 years!

Despite the attack on the “brand”, i.e. on Gemini Protocol, Geminispace continued to grow.

What next can GAFAM do to derail alternatives?

‘ve long respected Paul Robeson (for decades already) not just for his excellent, strong voice and learning of new languages, which he then used to communicate internationally (this reminded me of RMS). In the face of controversy and risk (the US tried to ostracise and sanction him) he persisted in his activism, using his good name and reputation to do something risky without monetary gain/rewards.

T was “15 years ago when I first met Rianne,” I said earlier this year. “It was at a birthday party of a friend of hers and a friend of mine. We started chatting randomly and soon figured out we had a lot in common, including our Computer Science background.”

A month from now we have our wedding anniversary (Sept. 18^th) and exactly a week from now Rianne celebrates her birthday. Today I asked her what balloon colours she wanted. She said purple. So I got that!

T seems like we’re getting only drizzles lately, no heavy rains. It’s worrying because the birds are literally banging their body’s against my doors for attention, they desperately want food. Today we fed several flocks in our way to and back from Town. They were “happy clappy” about it (we clap to get their attention).

Seeing the yellow ‘grass’ (if that can even be called “grass” at this point; it seems dead everywhere, many bushes and plants too, maybe not trees) is profoundly saddening. If it becomes this bad every year, and if all we have to show for it is chatbots (pyramid scheme basically) and useless data centres, then our species is doomed already.

spent a lot of time this morning looking through Cloudflare Radar to better understand OS trends worldwide.

Weekends are when most people do not work. This past weekend GNU/Linux was measured at over 8% but peaked at about 10%.

Cloudflare has vast data and given the scale of it all, it’s hard to dismiss as mere noise.

EXT week it is Rianne’s birthday and we plan to celebrate somewhere nearby. Technically we’re still on holiday for 15 days to come and we’re enjoying every moment of it. We spend more time offline and go to the park to feed many birds amid a worrying drought.

We predict that later this week some thugs in London will try to bully us again; it would be a giant own goal if they attempted to do so.

Yesterday I discussed with a friend how Web search is getting worse over time, maybe by intention (intent would be difficult to prove though).
