People in Their Twenties Tend to Miss the Point

Slow down.

Oldham and Shaw tram

IT is the 10th of August today (day 3 of vacation) and we have 3 weeks left in this vacation, which is warming up. I am more relaxed than I’ve been in decades and so far I only do with I enjoy. We fed the birds at Mayfield today and tomorrow we plan to mostly relax. This afternoon/evening I pulled out one of the 1997 hits CDs; I still use optical drives a lot, the music from that era is on average a lot better than the contemporary stuff and there are no ads. With the drive working concurrently with the PC there is also less CPU toil (no signal decryption or decompression necessary).

Looking back at my 20s, I was “racing” a lot of the time and it seems rather common among people that age. What are they really racing towards? What is this “Rat Race”? Sooner or later they will realise that life is not a contest, social control media isn’t popularity (just shallow voyeurism/vanity), and health matters more than speed. About 2 years ago I began sleeping a lot more after 2 decades of trying to limit myself to 6 hours per night. Why? It was not healthy, that’s for sure. That had no point to it…

All around me I see anxious, nervous people – some to the point of being dependent on medication. Many of them have debt, obligations, and a lifestyle they cannot afford, which is connected to why they took loans in the first place.

1 to 200 in Just Over a Year

Seashells snails vintage art old antique illustration picture restored stains removed

I think it won’t be long until the snails/shells exceed 200 (in number). It all started with only one (a single living thing), just about a year ago. 1 to 200 in just over a year is impressive, all one needs to do is feed them.

Nature’s ability to replicate, given the right conditions, is quite amazing.

The Bank of England in Manchester Becoming Residential Building

Manchester pub

I walked past the above Manchester pub today. There were still some remnants of its top floor in the morning. By midday? No more. It’s down to rubble no taller than the man who cleans up the mess, tossing about remnants of the bricks. Shirtless, tanned man. Last “work” on that very old building.

In more recent years it was owned by a friend’s relative. My friend stored his things there while moving between apartments. It was about 8 years ago.

Years later the place got trashed by the reasons specified last month in the local news.

The replacement building will look nice. This is the plan:

Daniel Pocock Won Elections Before

Daniel Pocock

IT’S happening later this week.

9 years ago Daniel Pocock won an election. Can he win again this week? The odds are against him, but he is winning free press. He is quoted as a technology specialist.

Staying Cool in Manchester’s Heatwaves

Heatwaves aplenty, fifth one coming this week

I HAVE been checking wet places to go (somewhere nearby, we want to not get too far away from the Net… not for very long anyway). The Therme Manchester facility will take at least another year to complete. “The cost of the scheme has ballooned from £250m to £400m since it was first announced in 2019,” BBC reports.

Therme Manchester

There is some news regarding stadium expansion nearby, but it seems like ‘vapourware’ for now unless Carrick can perform very well.

Old Trafford new

The expansion of nearby shopping facilities depends a lot on the local team. The Lowry across the water (from the stadium) is almost totally dead. Even Trafford Centre has many units unrented, boarded up.

On the lower end of the scale, there are some very large water parks nearby that are free to walk around (taking equipment costs money). Debdale Park is always nice and not too far; many birds there that one can feed.

There’s still time to decided. 3 more weeks of vacation left for us.

He Tried to Put My Wife and I in Prison, Now He Feels “Sentimental”

I‘ve noticed some minutes ago that the person who attempted to put me in prison (and my wife also!) said “[g]oing to be real and sentimental for a moment… what I’ve been dealing with for the past couple of years…”

Projection. Ask his spouse what happened.

Ask my wife, too.

He is not the victim. He’s not the poor baby. My wife and I sued him in September 2024 [1, 2] and we ran out of money because he had liaised with a strangler of women to drain our legal budget. Now he attacks his own spouse.

These people are void of morals.
