reat! So statCounter altered what it is measuring and thus, overnight, it puts Windows like 10-15% higher than days ago. Maybe it’s time to rely on Clownflare’s data more. At least it’s more consistent over time.

Or maybe… wait a few more days for statCounter to sort out the data and make things more consistent.

oday the new statistics from statCounter should come out. Maybe hours from now. I am very interested in them. I am eager to see if there’s an upward trend in GNU/Linux usage as seen by the data they collect.

When time has little effect

he incredible thing about 10cc is that these people still perform. They’ve performed since the 1960s (before 10cc was formed). They possess the same qualities: still the same skills on musical instruments and virtually the same voice (no smoking, one might assume). Less than a decade ago they sounded the same, as people in comments too point out.

I wish I can do the same in my 70s (hopefully 80s) as I did in my 20s.

rowth of IRC space was noted earlier today in Techrights and I’ve joined the IRC network of linux.org.

Unlike the site linux.com, this one has nothing to do with the Linux Foundation and years ago in IRC I spoke to the person who ran linux.org.

The address for the network is irc.linux.org with default port numbers.

The data can be used to defraud (e.g. impersonate) people who flew to and from Manchester Airport. Worse yet, it can potentially be leveraged for blackmail.

roups of tourists have gathered for the holiday around here, maybe anticipating the start of the football season. They’re typically quiet and polite people from Europe or east Asia. They choose to come to Manchester, not London, or sometimes both. They shop, stay overnight, and eventually leave to go back home.

Recently there was a data breach in Manchester Airport. Airports keep a lot of personal information about the people who fly and fliers cannot opt out because nobody can board a plane anonymously.

I certainly hope the computer systems at Manchester Airport were properly partitioned and did not use Windows. Every version of Windows has back doors and is a ransomware magnet.

September is a time to learn

What a start. So I’ve managed to publish a lot today, get some rest, get exercise done, make some good food.

I’ve long planned to take it up a notch on September 1^st and there’s no disappointment. The faster pace is maintainable too. I can’t see why not…

Despite bullying (the bullies think the person they bully is not entitled to holidays) I’ve had good rest, did a lot of housekeeping, and now I feel ready to rock until Xmas Eve.
