O, we got the venue and on Sunday we finally chose a dress. Actually, we got two for her. We’ll both wear two outfits at different stages of the event such that I wear not only a formal suit (it’s a civil ceremony, so it’s flexible). Here she is at the shop, measuring/trying the dress.
FTER careful consideration of various venues we may have finally found a place that suits our taste, such that the wedding safely takes place in good weather in December as originally planned (near the Pacific, not the UK). It will be a Civil Ceremony, so we are preparing our own invitation, speech, etc. Here are some photos of the place, taken on a clousy day unfortunately (which does no justice to the full beauty of it).
HE GIMP is a preferred tools to many who do not do graphics for a living (a 9-5 design job) and it has some neat scripts for banner generation. Here are some examples of banners I’ve been playing around with since last night.
T IS the end of an era as another project comes to an important milestone. I was preparing a lot of code for upload last week. I wanted to wait a while, at the very least until I had also uploaded the accompanying papers. A 2011-2012 Technical Report [HTML, PDF] about Identity Verification and “Car Navigation Through Computer Vision Methods With Rudimentary Implementation Under Android” [HTML, PDF] about Car Navigation have been uploaded. Due to some server error I am still trying to gather all the code for the former in order to upload it. But that too will come soon.
or many years I had abstained from joining Reddit, which I subconsciously viewed as a competitor to Digg, where I was already quite prominent and sometimes called “omnipresent”. But several months ago I reconciled all this nonsense and joined the site — a site that I had been sometimes criticising over at Techrights. During the weekend Techrights reached Reddit’s front page with this submission and the comments were surprisingly decent (in the past there were Novell employees attacking messengers in the comments, as means of misdirection). Things apparently do change over time, and sometimes in a positive way.
Separately, I have set up a page for me and my fiancée before our wedding (less than half a year away) and she loves it. Finally, a friend (and fellow professor) took dozens of videos and hundreds of photos with me over the weekend because we prepare a site and product called FXI (no public details on it just yet, but here is a a clue). There are some FXI logo ideas (the product is not yet up on the Web). This was made with the GIMP of course and it is far from final, only concepts.
Next weekend I hope to finally upload a lot of code I wrote in 2011-2012, accompanied by whitepapers and documentation. Busy week ahead…
ed and green hues represent the matching from dual-scale classifiers of the rear of cars. Some more bugs were removed in this latest iteration of the implementation.
