Feels Like Autumn, Even Winter

Change of plans

Manchester

THE weather has gotten rather awful, so we might not visit the park to feed the birds. We did, however, manage to work on some articles, prepare some very nice good, and have hours-old talks with family. We’re only a few days away from October. That marks a year since the trial in 2025. In 2027 we still plan to (at least try to) go to the UK’s Court of Appeal.

To understand what we went through see this latest article in Techrights.

Doing What It Takes to Protect Democracy

It’s under attack

This year it seems incredibly obvious that democracy is under attack in the UK. It’s attacked by corrupt foreigners who fund racists for the purpose of dismantling the system. MElon tries to capture the media/voice (x.com) and other “bros” capture political parties.

At the same time the EPO approves for itself to become like a monarchy and it’s hard to see Cheeto in the US leaving in White House without violence (like in 2021). He already meddles to interfere with midterm elections.

We all need to do something to combat this trajectory.

Age of Bikes

Almost 15

Today is a cloudy day and it looks like I’ll be leaving while it’s still rather dark. We’re not even in October yet!

I recently realised that my bicycle turns 15 in a matter of months, maybe about 19 months. It still works OK. It’s a German brand, but I think it’s built and assembled in Taiwan based on a German design.

I need to inflate my tires again today. There are particular things we need to buy and some of them are quite heavy.

I believe this bike can turn 20 and still be used. That’s better than many ‘modern’ cars.

Man City’s Fate

Go ahead and appeal

Man City titles

England could have and maybe should have beaten Spain at home, but a disappointing turnaround showed why the world’s #3 is not #1 (Spain is).

Spain has many very good players.

Earlier today in this blog I mentioned what might happen to Man City and I also spoke to my dad about this today. He does not rule out relegation and massive point penalty (like -10 or higher).

I believe this can carry on for quite some time. BBC says, “[m]any will argue that if upheld after any appeal, the nature and scale of the wrongdoing City have been found guilty of warrants such as sanction on the basis that titles were won unfairly, and any misrepresentation of revenue and costs gave them a crucial competitive advantage.”

Time will tell.

We too plan an appeal next year.

Reform UK is Like Brett Wilson LLP: Funded by Americans That Seek to Ruin Britain’s Democracy and Press Culture

Helping Americans who strangle American women bully people in the UK who correctly reported that

The Reform UK auditor has been contacted by Daniel Pocock and hours ago I said that for nearly 4 months already the hired guns who bully both myself and my wife have published no financial report, which means it has been nearly 16 months since the last one. It moreover seems, based on court records, that they’ve hardly had any new clients this year.

My guess or my suspicion is that Reform UK is a lot like these hired guns: funded by foreign actors to act against the interest of the British public (for self-enrichment ambitions).

Their activities are not sustainable as the general public finds out what they are up to.

Sites That Do LLM Slop (and Images) Will Perish and Go Offline

It’ll happen. Wait and watch.

Today I had a long conversation with a friend about sites we catch cheating and plagiarising with slop. I pointed out many of them cease to release new material, with some going offline.

That serves to affirm my expectation and observation that sites which become slopfarms commit suicide.

When the bubble pops, which is inevitable and already “in progress”, all those sites will vanish faster.

Investigative Journalism Today

The thing we wish to do all the time, not death threats

Today I resumed the EPO series, at long last. This is the first part since July. It is guaranteed to have a positive impact, a push in favour of European democracy, not dictatorship.

I’ve meanwhile noticed that since last Sunday (gemini.)techrights.org has served close to half a million requests, but I am sure (without checking) most of these are bots.

Tomorrow we’ll keep busy publishing more than today (we stay home more). Rianne and I plan to go feed animals at the park (squirrels too, not only birds) near the stadium. We are trying to digest the news about the Manchester City court battles. Some of that resembles things we’ve long studied.
