Clarification: The numbers above show that most deaths impact old age groups; among those, vaccination rate was high, so the big gap in numbers isn’t telling the full story.

The current policy isn’t working. People are ill and they get poor (there’s also Long “COVID-19″, which few wish to speak about). As someone noted: “as of Monday, Labour were polling 17 points ahead of the Conservative (per YouGov). That was bad enough, but by Thursday 29th, a new poll gave Labour a stunning 33 point lead in the polls as Conservative voter support imploded. It seems that tanking the currency, the pension system, the housing market, and the national debt in just one week is slightly unpopular. Who could possibly have seen that coming?”

We need a way to ‘circuit-break’ the virus or vaccines that more effectively curb its spread.

Just to be clear, the vast majority of those first shots are administered to kids.

53,813,491 out of over 68,000,000 Brits got vaccinated for COVID-19. This means over 14 million got nothing of that sort.

We’re no closer now to ending the pandemic than we were 12 months ago.

UST when they tell you autumn is here the numbers begin to soar.

The numbers were finally released, after 7 days of waiting (they really need to issue daily updates, as before), just a few minutes ago, revealing a 42% increase in COVID-19 cases in just one week. That’s despite testing levels going down, or maybe owing to them (making us blind to the spread).

I was expecting further growth after last week’s increase, but not that fast a growth. It’s only September. As it turns out [1], this is expected not only in the UK. The pandemic isn’t over, it’s just hibernating.

1. Finland’s Covid cases to rise again, health authority predicts

   There will be an increase in new Covid cases across Finland as winter approaches, according to a forecast from the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL).

   The health authority presented an assessment of the coronavirus situation at a joint press briefing with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, on Thursday morning.

   The experts said vaccinations are not effective in significantly reducing the spread of the virus at this point. The best protection from severe Covid symptoms comes from hybrid immunity, which people gain from a combination of vaccinations and a recent infection.

   Finland is monitoring two Omicron subvariants of the coronavirus that causes Covid-19 ? BA.2 and BA.4 ? particularly closely.
